Hazardous materials inspection to be relocated at Otay Mesa Customs

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that, effective Monday, March 28, 2022, all hazardous materials shipments will be inspected at the Otay Mesa commercial import checkpoint, located at 9777 Via de la Amistad, San Diego, CA, 92154, Monday through Friday from 06:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., excluding holidays.

PIN 2022-005 states that the receipt of these shipments will be at 06:00 am, 08:00 am and 10:00 am Monday through Friday and that they must arrive using the assigned FAST line on the Mexican side.

These inspections are currently being conducted at the Otay Mesa commercial export checkpoint at 9495 Customhouse Plaza, San Diego, CA 92154.

In accordance with Hazardous Materials Processing PIN 2022-006, hazardous materials arrivals are required to be pre-filed with previously established deadlines and will be provided with an electronic or manual (for those submitting material by hand) response that will now include a date and time of arrival.

Also, hazardous materials entries must begin to be submitted with this new process for all arrivals with a scheduled crossing on or after March 28, 2022.
